When it’s time to choose a virtual private cloud provider, you should ask the really hard questions up front. The answers you get will help guide you towards the right privatecloud provider for your IT requirements.
Here are a few of the hard questions you need to ask:
- Where will my data be located? It seems like private cloud providers crop up daily, and you want to make sure that your cloud provider is not a fly-by-night kind of operation. You also want to make sure that their data center is owned and operated by them and that it’s in a remote location away from your office facilities.
- What are your physical and electronic safety measures? You want to ensure that there’s redundancies and procedures in place to react to any situation. In fact, it’s probably worth a visit to the data center to make sure everything is in place.
- Do you outsource any of your operations? For example, if they off-shore their help desk function, you might want to consider if they can provide you the support you need on your schedule.
These are actually just a few of the hard questions you want to ask, but they’ll get you off to a good start.
